Diabetes in pregnancy research can be undertaken by researchers who have not previously conducted research in this area, and can be achieved without the resources of a large organisation. Similarly, one can one can contribute to diabetes in pregnancy care at the population level without having previously been involved in public health and policy work. With enthusiasm, a data source, and a willingness to devote time to being involved, all this can be achieved. In this short presentation, I will outline a personal journey, which I hope will help junior members of ADIPS to develop a career in diabetes in pregnancy.
